The Fathers of IMC Cinema, 75 years before YouTube™
As Illustrated by these two prime examples of "War of The Worlds by HG Wells" and Psycho by Alfred Hitchcock"Integrated Marketing Communications or IMC predates modern Communication and social media tools by 75 years and more . The penetration of the marketplace is strong testimony to the effectiveness of a diversified human faced campaign. Act like humans, talk like humans and congregate where humans do. Both these campaigns were leveraged on the powerful emotion of fear. Fear of my affairs not being in order and being financially destitute with no Insurance or antacids to ease the stress and pain of losing everything and even your life as in War of the Worlds. Secondly, the fear of retribution from the New York Police Force and subsequent internment which was used to promote the face and brand of Hitchcock and therefore his ailing television audiences. Post Psycho, Hitchcock’s Audiences increased ten fold and needles to say his advertisers were ecstatic. Both very physical campaigns, through non formal media tools and leveraged on basic human emotions, neither of which were price. Both Campaigns for "War of the World and Psycho by far exceeded financial benchmarks, Brand awareness, brand persona, and most of all the human face of the companies behind these brands.
